President Meloni at the 78th UN General Assembly

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, in New York for the 78th United Nations General Assembly.
Yesterday, in the margins of the General Assembly, President Meloni had bilateral meetings with the President of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, the President of the Republic of Senegal, Macky Sall, the President of the Republic of Kenya, William Samoei Ruto, and the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Later in the afternoon, she laid a wreath at the Christopher Columbus monument at Columbus Circle.

President Meloni’s statement on sport being added to the Italian Constitution

“Parliament’s unanimous, final approval of the constitutional reform to include sport in the Italian Constitution is an important page in the history of our nation. The educational and social value of sport, in all its forms, being recognised in our Constitution, along with its ability to support psychological and physical well-being, is a real cultural revolution.

Il Sottosegretario Mantovano e il Commissario Ciciliano a Caivano

Nella mattinata di domani, giovedì 21 settembre, il Sottosegretario alla Presidenza del Consiglio Alfredo Mantovano, insieme al Commissario Fabio Ciciliano, sarà a Caivano. Prevista una riunione operativa sullo stato di avanzamento delle iniziative di riqualificazione.

PNRR, riunione della Cabina di regia

All’indomani dell’approvazione delle modifiche alla quarta rata del PNRR, da parte del Consiglio Affari generali della Ue, che riguardano, tra le altre, la misura relativa agli alloggi per studenti universitari, si è svolta a Palazzo Chigi una riunione della Cabina di regia alla presenza del sottosegretario Mantovano, del Ministro per gli Affari europei, il Sud, le Politiche di coesione e il PNRR, Raffaele Fitto, del Ministro dell’Università e della Ricerca, Anna Maria Bernini e del sottosegretario al Ministero dell’Economia e delle Finanze, Lucia Albano.

President Meloni meets with Prime Minister of Canada at UNGA

President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni had a long and cordial meeting today with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada. The two leaders discussed cooperation between their countries within the G7, in light of the upcoming Italian Presidency and Canada’s Presidency the year after. Both agreed to ensure good coordination in the management of the two presidencies. President Meloni talked about the priorities of Italy’s Presidency, which focus on the continued commitment to support Ukraine in the war of aggression, greater attention to Africa’s problems, and the search for solutions to turn crises into development opportunities. Lastly, a great deal of attention was paid to the challenges of artificial intelligence, which must become a tool at the service of human beings, respecting their ethical principles.

President Meloni meets with President of Malawi at UNGA

In the margins of the United Nations General Assembly, President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni also met today with the President of Malawi, Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, who expressed his appreciation for the Italian Government’s strategic focus on Africa. President Chakwera also expressed deep gratitude for the development cooperation projects for Malawi, especially in the area of food security. Malawi’s leader presented opportunities for investment and cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, tourism and mining. President Meloni went on to underline that investments in development offer an opportunity for European nations.

President Meloni meets with President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria at UNGA

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a cordial meeting today with the President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune. During the meeting, great satisfaction was expressed with the solidity of bilateral relations, which span several economic areas, including not just the energy but the industrial sector too. The two leaders also discussed the issue of migration in the Mediterranean, which they are well aligned on, sharing views on Africa. President Meloni also talked about her efforts in Europe to draw attention to the need for a new approach focusing on the development of African economies. Lastly, with reference to the crises in the Sahel, they agreed to support European involvement and a shared position in order to avoid further tension.

President Meloni meets with United Nations Secretary-General at UNGA

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, met today with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres. During the meeting, President Meloni presented the priorities of the upcoming Italian G7 Presidency and stressed the need for a greater and coordinated commitment to Africa, highlighting the possibility that the crises on the continent can become opportunities for growth.

PNRR: prossime riunioni della Cabina di regia il 25 e 26 settembre 2023

A seguito delle positive interlocuzioni con la Commissione europea condotte nelle ultime settimane, riprende il lavoro collegiale del Governo sull’attuazione del Piano Nazionale di Ripresa e Resilienza (PNRR).
A tal fine, il Ministro per gli affari europei, il Sud, le politiche di coesione e il PNRR, Raffaele Fitto, ha convocato per il prossimo 25 settembre 2023 la Cabina di Regia PNRR a Palazzo Chigi, alla presenza del Presidente del Consiglio dei ministri Giorgia Meloni, che riunirà, oltre a tutti i Ministri, anche i rappresentanti di Regioni, Province e Comuni per discutere dello stato di avanzamento delle riforme e degli investimenti previsti dal Piano.

President Meloni meets with President of Rwanda at UNGA

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a cordial meeting today with the President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame. President Meloni underlined her interest in deepening cooperation between the two nations, starting with the biofuel and innovation sectors. President Kagame expressed his appreciation for the paradigm shift the Italian Government has adopted regarding Africa, as also shown at European level. The two leaders also agreed to jointly address the challenges and opportunities presented by migration, with a wide-ranging and cooperative approach. In this context, bilateral cooperation in the field of cyber security and technological innovation was discussed in closing.
