The ‘Italia-Africa. A bridge for common growth’ Summit was held at Palazzo Madama in Rome today. Following the working sessions, the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, and the Chairperson of the African Union, Azali Assoumani, delivered statements to the press.

The working sessions of the ‘Italia-Africa. A bridge for common growth’ Summit were held at Palazzo Madama, seat of the Italian Senate, in Rome today. This morning, there was a welcome ceremony for the Heads of Delegations with the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, followed by a family photograph of participants in the Chamber of the Senate, where the working sessions were then held. This morning, following the welcome ceremony and an institutional greeting by the President of the Senate, the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, delivered her opening address.

On 27 January 79 years ago, the gates of Auschwitz were torn down and the world saw with its own eyes the horror of the Shoah, the Nazis’ deliberate plan to persecute and exterminate the Jewish population. With the Shoah, humanity reached its abyss. President Meloni’s telephone conversations with the President of Algeria and the President of Egypt
Ahead of the Italy-Africa Summit being held in Rome on Monday, the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, spoke over the telephone this afternoon with the President of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and with the President of Egypt, Abdelfattah al-Sisi. The two conversations provided an opportunity to exchange ideas on revitalising Italy’s relations with the African continent and on the joint development of the ‘Mattei Plan’.
