In occasione del secondo anniversario dell'aggressione russa contro Ucraina, sul prospetto principale di Palazzo Chigi saranno proiettati i colori della bandiera ucraina dalle ore 00:01 alle ore 23:59 del 24 febbraio.

President Meloni chairs first meeting of G7 Heads of State and Government under the Italian Presidency
On February 24th, on the second anniversary of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, chaired a meeting of the G7 Heads of State and Government. President Meloni joined from Kyiv, together with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine. At the end of the meeting, a joint declaration on Ukraine was adopted.

Il Presidente Meloni presiede la prima riunione dei Capi di Stato e di Governo G7 sotto Presidenza italiana
Il 24 febbraio, in occasione del secondo anniversario dell'aggressione russa contro l’Ucraina, il Presidente del Consiglio, Giorgia Meloni, ha presieduto una riunione dei Capi di Stato e di Governo G7. Il Presidente Meloni si è collegata da Kiev, assieme al Primo Ministro canadese Justin Trudeau, alla Presidente della Commissione europea Ursula von der Leyen e al Presidente ucraino Volodymyr Zelensky. Al termine della riunione è stata adottata una dichiarazione congiunta sull’Ucraina.

Palazzo Chigi lit up with colours of Ukrainian flag on second anniversary of the start of the war
To mark the second anniversary of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, Palazzo Chigi’s main façade will be lit up with the colours of the Ukrainian flag from 00:01 until 23:59 on 24 February.

Bilateral meeting with President Zelensky in Kyiv
The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a bilateral meeting with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, in Kyiv today, focusing on developments in the conflict in Ukraine. The meeting also provided an opportunity to reiterate that Ukraine is a key issue on the agenda of the Italian G7 Presidency, and to underscore the comprehensive support that Italy is providing to Kyiv, starting with reconstruction and security cooperation. At the end of the meeting, a security cooperation agreement was signed, in line with the commitments undertaken at G7 level during the NATO Summit in Vilnius in July 2023.

Incontro bilaterale con il Presidente Zelensky a Kiev
Il Presidente del Consiglio, Giorgia Meloni, ha avuto oggi a Kiev un incontro bilaterale con il Presidente ucraino, Volodymyr Zelensky, che ha avuto al centro l’andamento del conflitto in Ucraina. L’incontro ha anche permesso di ribadire la centralità ucraina nell’agenda della Presidenza italiana del G7 e di valorizzare l’assistenza italiana a 360 gradi in favore di Kiev, a partire dalla ricostruzione e dalla cooperazione in materia di sicurezza. Al termine del colloquio, è stato firmato un Accordo di cooperazione in materia di sicurezza, come previsto dagli impegni assunti in ambito G7 in occasione del Vertice NATO di Vilnius del luglio 2023.

President Meloni visits Kyiv
On the second anniversary of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, today chaired a video-conference meeting of the G7 Heads of State and Government, the first under the Italian Presidency, from Kyiv. This morning, President Meloni, together with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the Prime Minister of Belgium and President-in-Office of the Council of the EU, Alexander De Croo, and the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, attended an honours ceremony for those who defended the airport of Hostomel, in the presence of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. Later, after visiting the Memory Wall of Fallen Defenders, the leaders met at Mariinsky Palace, where they issued statements to the press.
