President Meloni meets with the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, met this afternoon with the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, at Palazzo Chigi.

The cordial meeting focused, inter alia, on: attention to the stabilisation of the Sahel region, the common commitment to fighting terrorism and the repercussions in Africa of the war in Ukraine. President Meloni and President Ghazouani talked about the friendship between Mauritania and the West. They also discussed opportunities to strengthen bilateral ties, both in economic terms and with regard to energy, in the context of a virtuous cooperation model that the Italian Government intends to promote with the African continent.
