President Meloni visits Iraq

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, visited Iraq today, where she had a series of institutional meetings and greeted Italian military personnel operating in the region.
Baghdad
In Baghdad, President Meloni met with Ambassador Maurizio Greganti and greeted embassy staff, military personnel from the I “Tuscania” Regiment and XIII “Friuli Venezia Giulia” Regiment of the Carabinieri and Italian officials serving in international organisations. At the ‘Union III’ military base, headquarters of NATO Mission Iraq (NMI) and the Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve, she met with the Mission Commander, Major General Giovanni Maria Iannucci, a delegation of Italian military personnel and the personnel of the Italian military contingent in Iraq.
At the Government palace, President Meloni met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani.
At the palace of the Presidency of the Republic, she met with the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Rashid, and, at the seat of parliament, she had a meeting with the President of Parliament, Mohammed al-Halbousi.
President Meloni then met with the Patriarch of the Chaldean Catholic Church of Iraq, Cardinal Louis Raphaël Sako, at the seat of the Patriarchate.
Erbil
In Erbil, a city in Iraqi Kurdistan, President Meloni was welcomed by the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, and by the Italian Consul, Michele Camerota.
She then visited the ‘Camp Singara’ military base, where she met with the Commander, Colonel Daniele Pisani, and had lunch with the Italian military personnel present.
Before departing to return to Rome, President Meloni had a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government at his official residence, followed by a meeting with the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani.
The President of the Council of Ministers was accompanied by: Undersecretary of State to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers Sen. Giovanbattista Fazzolari; Diplomatic Advisor to the President of the Council of Ministers Amb. Francesco Talò; and, Military Advisor to the President of the Council of Ministers Major General Franco Federici.
