The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, met today with the President of the Republic of Finland, Alexander Stubb, at Palazzo Chigi.
The meeting provided an opportunity to confirm the deep synergies between Italy and Finland within the common EU and NATO framework. The two leaders reviewed the potential to strengthen economic relations and cooperation on security and defence as well as on the major issues on the international and European agenda, including the management of irregular migration. The meeting was also an opportunity to have a discussion ahead of the NATO Summit in Washington, confirming the importance of continuing to support Ukraine and of pursuing a comprehensive approach to Euro-Atlantic security.
The meeting also focused on exchanging views on the key political and strategic dynamics that are underway, and on the importance of fostering a model of development and cooperation among equals with the African continent, in the spirit of Italy’s Mattei Plan.
