The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, today received the President-elect of the European Council, António Costa, at Palazzo Chigi, who chose Rome as the first leg of his tour of European capitals in his new capacity.
The meeting focused on the EU’s priorities for action for the next institutional cycle, starting with the main crisis scenarios at international level as well as the issues of competitiveness and management of migration flows. The European Council’s working methods were also discussed, with the aim of further enhancing its role and effectiveness.
President Meloni once again wished President-elect Costa all the best in his work, expressing her appreciation for the intention to ensure shared and pragmatic leadership of the European Council.
