The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, received the Secretary of Commerce of the United States of America, Gina Raimondo, at Palazzo Chigi today.
At the start of the meeting, President Meloni expressed the solidarity of the people and Government of Italy with the citizens of the south of the United States who have been severely affected by Hurricane Milton.
The meeting then focused on discussing prospects for further strengthening the excellent bilateral economic and trade relations and U.S. investments in Italy, in particular in the areas of infrastructure and energy.
Opportunities for cooperation in implementing the Mattei Plan were also discussed, with particular reference to development of the Lobito Corridor which will connect Angola to Zambia through the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Lastly, the meeting also provided an opportunity for an exchange of views on economic and trade relations between the United States and the European Union.
