President Meloni’s statement on renewal of CCNL for school staff
I wish to thank Minister of Education and Merit Valditara and Minister for Public Administration Zangrillo for the great efforts made to reach an agreement with trade unions on the renewal of the ‘CCNL’ [national collective labour agreement] for school staff. This result confirms the Government’s attention and represents a significant step forward in giving back status and dignity to those who serve what is a crucial sector for the present and future of our nation.

Undersecretary of State Mantovano meets with Deputy Secretary of the United States Treasury Adeyemo
Undersecretary of State to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers Alfredo Mantovano met today with the Deputy Secretary of the Treasury of the United States of America, Adewale Adeyemo, at Palazzo Chigi. The long and cordial meeting focused on sanctions against Russia, financial relations and the security of investments, the agenda of the upcoming G7 Presidency and relations with the Global South, in particular with North Africa.

President Meloni meets with President of the Emilia-Romagna Region Bonaccini
The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, received the President of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Stefano Bonaccini, at Palazzo Chigi today.
The meeting focused on the situation following the flooding that affected the areas of Reggio Emilia, Modena, Bologna, Ferrara, Ravenna and Forlì-Cesena. President Meloni and President Bonaccini also discussed the use of Cohesion and Development Fund resources. The President of the Council of Ministers confirmed full readiness to define the ways to allocate the resources over the coming days, reiterating the positive progress of the work between the Ministry for Cohesion Policy and the Emilia-Romagna region.

President Meloni’s statement on single SEZ for Italy’s southern regions
The European Commission’s green light for the creation of a single Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for Italy’s southern regions is very good news.
Developing the Mezzogiorno’s economy is a priority for our Government. We are, however, convinced that this goal must be reached by abandoning the welfare logic that does not work and by instead providing employment and growth opportunities, making these areas of the country competitive and attractive for investment and business.
The single SEZ goes exactly in this direction and constitutes a change of pace for the South’s economy.
The initiation of a dialogue with the European Commission to amend and make the ‘Decontribuzione Sud’ measure [an aid scheme for the South] permanent is also good news. The Government had already prolonged this scheme until the end of 2023 and it has proven to be very effective.

Molto bene la luce verde della Commissione europea alla creazione di una Zona Economica Speciale unica per le Regioni del Sud Italia. Lo sviluppo dell'economia del Mezzogiorno è una priorità del nostro Governo. Siamo però convinti che questo obiettivo debba essere raggiunto abbandonando la logica assistenziale che non funziona, ma dando opportunità di lavoro e crescita e rendendo queste aree del Paese competitive e attrattive per investimenti ed imprese. Incontro del Presidente Meloni con Presidente dell'Emilia-Romagna Bonaccini
Il Presidente del Consiglio, Giorgia Meloni, ha ricevuto oggi a Palazzo Chigi il Presidente della Regione Emilia-Romagna, Stefano Bonaccini. Al centro del colloquio lo stato post alluvione che ha colpito i territori di Reggio Emilia, Modena, Bologna, Ferrara, Ravenna e Forlì-Cesena. Meloni e Bonaccini hanno discusso anche del tema dell’utilizzo delle risorse dei Fondi Coesione e Sviluppo. Il presidente del Consiglio ha confermato la piena disponibilità a definire nei prossimi giorni le modalità di assegnazione delle risorse, ribadendo il positivo avanzamento del lavoro tra il ministero per le Politiche di coesione e la regione Emilia-Romagna.

NATO Heads of State and Government Summit
The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, attended the NATO Heads of State and Government Summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, on 11 and 12 July. At the end of today’s sessions, she held a press conference. Yesterday, President Meloni attended the Meeting of the North Atlantic Council, after which she met with the President of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak.
