Phone call between President Giorgia Meloni and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a telephone conversation today with the Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida. The Japanese Prime Minister congratulated President Meloni on her appointment as President of the Council of Ministers and confirmed the common interest in further strengthening the existing partnership between Italy and Japan.
During the call, the two leaders addressed, among other things, the dynamics and repercussions of the war in Ukraine. They also stressed the importance of guaranteeing peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific, also with reference to the serious risks posed by North Korea’s missile tests.
