The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a very cordial meeting today with His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein of Jordan, at Palazzo Chigi.
During the lunch, attended also by Vice-President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani and Minister of Defence Guido Crosetto, matters on the bilateral agenda were discussed, with particular reference to cooperation in the fields of security and defence.
The latest developments in the Mediterranean and Middle East were also discussed during the meeting, in particular the prospects for the Israeli-Palestinian peace process and energy and water cooperation in the region.
It was noted that the traditional friendship between Italy and Jordan may in fact help to address the complex challenges of the region, while also seizing the opportunities to the benefit of the populations concerned.
