The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a telephone conversation yesterday evening with the Prime Minister of Tunisia, Najla Bouden Romdhane. During the call, the long-standing friendship between the two nations was highlighted.
President Meloni expressed closeness to the people and authorities of Tunisia at this particularly delicate time for the country, noting that Tunisia’s stability and prosperity, respecting fundamental rights and freedoms, are crucial for the stability of the entire Mediterranean region. In particular, President Meloni indicated Italy’s willingness to continue supporting Tunisia financially, also together with the European Union, providing its backing also in relation to international financial institutions.
The migration emergency and possible solutions were also discussed, following an integrated approach.
The two leaders expressed their hope that they would soon have an opportunity to meet.
