The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a cordial telephone conversation today with the President of Congo, Denis Sassou N’Guesso, to discuss the excellent bilateral relations.
During the conversation, President Meloni illustrated her vision of a partnership with Africa inspired by a non-predatory cooperation model, as set out in the ‘Mattei Plan for Africa’.
In this context, Italy’s commitment with regard to the food crisis was highlighted, with the organisation of the food systems summit that will be held in Rome this July and the Italy-Africa conference in October. Economic cooperation was also discussed, and in particular on energy, with new renewable energy and liquefied natural gas projects for both the local and the European market.
The conversation also focused on the stabilisation of Libya and North Africa, and the intention was expressed to exchange visits by the end of the year to deepen dialogue and develop further projects together.
