Bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Modi of India at the G20 Summit

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, met today in New Delhi with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, whom she congratulated for the success of the G20 Summit.

The meeting focused on the main issues on the G20 agenda and the development of bilateral relations.

President Meloni also described the major themes of the future Italian presidency of the G7, including the need to devote increasing attention to international regulations for artificial intelligence. In this regard, it was agreed that there should be effective coordination between the G20 and G7 fora.

With regard to bilateral relations, in the context of the Strategic Partnership that Italy and India launched during President Meloni’s visit to New Delhi at the beginning of March, the two Heads of Government discussed collaboration in strategic sectors, including energy transition, digitalisation, space and defence.
