President Meloni’s statement on sport being added to the Italian Constitution

“Parliament’s unanimous, final approval of the constitutional reform to include sport in the Italian Constitution is an important page in the history of our nation. The educational and social value of sport, in all its forms, being recognised in our Constitution, along with its ability to support psychological and physical well-being, is a real cultural revolution. This is a victory for all kinds of sporting activities - not only competitive but also amateur, grassroots and neighbourhood sports, showing attention towards all citizens who practise them and recognising all those who operate and work in the world of sport – a significant segment of our economy that has been forgotten for too long. The Government will do its part to concretely implement this new constitutional provision”.
