President Meloni meets with United Nations Secretary-General at UNGA

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, met today with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres. During the meeting, President Meloni presented the priorities of the upcoming Italian G7 Presidency and stressed the need for a greater and coordinated commitment to Africa, highlighting the possibility that the crises on the continent can become opportunities for growth. Secretary-General Guterres expressed his full agreement with Italy’s approach to Africa and his readiness to work with the Italian G7 Presidency. He also expressed his appreciation for Italy’s significant contribution to the UN in all areas of activity, and recalled the Food Systems Summit in Rome, calling it a great success. 
The conversation also focused on the issue of artificial intelligence and the prospects for its development, which must ensure the centrality of human beings. Both agreed to work together on this.
