President Meloni meets with Special government commissioner for the flood-hit Emilia Romagna and Marche regions

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, received the Special government commissioner for reconstruction in the flood-hit Emilia Romagna, Tuscany and Marche regions, Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, at Palazzo Chigi today.
During the meeting, Commissioner Figliuolo illustrated the urgent measures to safeguard the flooded areas, which will make use of the waivers decided by the Government and shared by Parliament, in order to streamline administrative procedures and take action as effectively as possible. He also described the criteria and procedures for providing relief to economic and production activities that have suffered flood damage, including farms.
To date, EUR 289 million have been made available for the most pressing emergencies in 2023, and further urgent measures for flood defence work, the road system, etc. will also soon be brought in, as soon as the regional platform is ready and the Municipalities begin their appraisals, until all allocated resources have been fully used.
Relief for households and businesses will in fact be provided using the Emilia Romagna Region’s existing ‘Sfinge’ platform, which the regional authority is in the process of updating from a technical point of view to ensure it is aligned with procedures. This is to be completed by no later than 15 November 2023.
The Commissioner’s unit is ready to disburse financial aid and is working to simplify procedures. To meet the needs of households and businesses, ad hoc decrees will be issued providing indications on how to submit financial aid requests, on certified appraisals, and on the technical data sheets to record damages, so that payments can already start being made from the end of November.
President Meloni reiterates that, with the measures outlined, the Government has confirmed its ongoing commitment and the top priority given to overcoming the emergency, reconstruction and getting the areas affected back to normality.
