Serbia-Kosovo relations: two meetings held in Brussels with President Meloni, President Macron and Chancellor Scholz

26 October 2023

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, together with French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and European Council President Charles Michel, had two distinct meetings in the margins of the European Council meeting today, with the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, and with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti.

The aim of the two meetings was to make progress in the dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo, facilitated by the European Union with a view to normalising relations between the two nations. In particular, both parties were invited to confirm their commitment to implement the European Union’s proposals and to refrain from actions that may undermine dialogue.

President Meloni reiterated the Italian Government’s ongoing strong support for the European path of Serbia and Kosovo and of all the other Western Balkan countries, with a view to the necessary reunification of the European continent.
