G7 Summit - 13 June 2024

The Summit of the G7 Heads of State and Government got underway today at Borgo Egnazia, in Italy’s Apulia Region. This morning, the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, welcomed the Leaders to the Summit venue, after which a family photo was taken. President Meloni then delivered an opening address at the first working session ‘Africa, Climate Change and Development’. A side event on the G7 Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGII) was held later in the afternoon, and the first day’s working sessions were brought to a close with a flag ceremony and closing press statement by President Meloni. In the evening, the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, received the G7 Leaders at the Swabian Castle of Brindisi for an official dinner.
