Statement by President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni

The death of Yahya Sinwar means the main person responsible for the massacre of 7 October 2023 is gone.
I am convinced that a new phase must now begin: it is time for all hostages to be released, for an immediate ceasefire to be declared and for reconstruction to begin in Gaza. We will continue to resolutely support all efforts in this direction and to resume a serious and credible political process leading to a two-state solution.
