The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, paid homage to Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI at St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican this morning, together with Undersecretary of State to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers Alfredo Mantovano and Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry Francesco Lollobrigida.

Il Presidente del Consiglio ha firmato il Dpcm con il quale il Sen. Guido Castelli è stato nominato Commissario per la ricostruzione post terremoto del centro Italia. Il governo rivolge a Castelli gli auguri di buon lavoro per questo impegnativo compito, per il quale la sua esperienza di amministratore e la sua conoscenza del territorio saranno preziosi. Il governo ringrazia per il lavoro sin qui svolto il Commissario uscente On. Giovanni Legnini, il quale mantiene le competenze di Commissario per Ischia.

I stand with the President of the Senate and all senators and condemn today’s outrageous act of vandalism, which is incompatible with any civilised form of protest.

Sono vicina al Presidente del Senato e a tutti i senatori e condanno il gesto oltraggioso,  incompatibile con qualsiasi civile protesta.

Il Presidente del Consiglio Giorgia Meloni ringrazia il Santo Padre Francesco per gli auguri personali e per le parole di affetto rivolte, nel corso dell'Angelus di oggi, al popolo italiano.

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, expressed her gratitude to the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, during a telephone call after his end-of-year message, thanking him for the encouragement to govern with the responsibility demanded by these difficult times, following the political elections that led to a woman being Head of Government for the first time. Expressing the common, strong concern for the conflict in Ukraine, President Meloni shared the Head of State’s words on the serious violations of freedom taking place in various areas of the world and on the need for institutional harmony in the interests of young people, women and those who work and look to the future with confidence. She then wished President Mattarella all the best for the continuation of his high office.
