UNIFIL mission: President Meloni’s telephone conversation with General Messina

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a telephone conversation this afternoon with UNIFIL’s West Sector Commander, General Messina, who provided her with an update on the mission and on the situation of the Italian contingent serving in Lebanon, after the headquarters and two Italian bases positioned at outposts came under fire from the Israeli army.

Mattei Plan steering committee meeting

The third meeting of the Mattei Plan steering committee was held at Palazzo Chigi today, chaired by the Vice-President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani. During the meeting, the annual progress report for the Mattei Plan for Africa was presented, to then be submitted to Parliament. Said report provides details of the main initiatives underway in the nine nations where the Plan’s pilot projects have been launched.

CIPESS meeting of 9 October 2024

A meeting of the Interministerial Committee for Economic Planning and Sustainable Development (CIPESS) was held today, chaired by Vice-President of the Committee and Minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo Giorgetti, and with the CIPESS Secretary, Undersecretary of State to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers Alessandro Morelli, in attendance. The meeting approved a number of important measures regarding infrastructure.

President Meloni’s statement on assault on police officers

I express mine and the Government’s full solidarity with the police officers who were insulted and attacked today by self-styled “protesters” who use any excuse to vent their senseless violence. It is intolerable for dozens of officers to be injured during a street demonstration. I wish to thank Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi, the Chief of Police, and all the men and women who work every day to safeguard our security.

In the margins of the meeting, a number of bilateral agreements were signed regarding cooperation in the fields of justice and culture, and a joint statement was adopted, expressing the will to strengthen channels of dialogue and collaboration in areas of common interest.
