President Meloni thanks Pope Francis for best wishes at Angelus
The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, thanks the Holy Father Pope Francis for the personal best wishes and for the words of affection for the Italian people during today’s Angelus address.

Messaggio di fine anno del Presidente Mattarella, la nota di Palazzo Chigi
Nel corso di una telefonata al Presidente della Repubblica, che ha seguito il messaggio di Capodanno, il Presidente del Consiglio ha espresso gratitudine per l’incoraggiamento a governare con la responsabilità che la difficoltà del momento esige, dopo le elezioni politiche che per la prima volta vedono una donna alla guida del Governo. Nella comune forte preoccupazione per il conflitto in Ucraina, il Presidente Meloni ha condiviso le parole del Capo dello Stato sulle gravi violazioni della libertà che si consumano in varie aree del mondo e sulla necessità di concordia istituzionale nell’interesse dei giovani, delle donne, di chi lavora e guarda al futuro con fiducia. Ha quindi manifestato al Presidente Mattarella l’augurio più sincero per la prosecuzione del suo alto mandato.

Statement by Palazzo Chigi on President Mattarella’s end-of-year message
The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, expressed her gratitude to the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, during a telephone call after his end-of-year message, thanking him for the encouragement to govern with the responsibility demanded by these difficult times, following the political elections that led to a woman being Head of Government for the first time. Expressing the common, strong concern for the conflict in Ukraine, President Meloni shared the Head of State’s words on the serious violations of freedom taking place in various areas of the world and on the need for institutional harmony in the interests of young people, women and those who work and look to the future with confidence. She then wished President Mattarella all the best for the continuation of his high office.

President Meloni’s condolence message on the passing of Benedict XVI
Benedict XVI was a giant of faith and of reason. A man who loved the Lord and devoted his life to the service of the universal Church. He spoke, and will continue to speak, to the hearts and minds of people with the spiritual, cultural and intellectual depth of his Magisterium. A Christian, a shepherd, a theologian: one of history’s greats, whom history will not forget.
I have conveyed the Government’s and my personal sympathy to the Holy Father Pope Francis for his and the entire Church community’s grief.

Il Consiglio dei Ministri, convocato in data odierna alle ore 18.00, a Palazzo Chigi, esaminerà il seguente ordine del giorno:

Ministro Fitto: raggiunti gli obiettivi del PNRR in scadenza al 31 dicembre 2022
“Sono stati raggiunti i 55 obiettivi previsti dal PNRR per il secondo semestre 2022. Questo risultato è il frutto di un importante lavoro di squadra impostato anche sulla base di un dialogo costruttivo attivato a livello politico con la Commissione Europea che ha consentito, tra l’altro, il superamento di alcune criticità connesse al raggiungimento di qualche obiettivo. Per riuscirci è stato cruciale ridare centralità alla Cabina di Regia, luogo di coordinamento e impulso, come voluto dal Presidente Meloni, che ringrazio. Oltre al premier rivolgo un ringraziamento a tutti i Ministri, le Regioni e gli enti locali, per la collaborazione assicurata e auspico che la stessa sinergia sostenga il conseguimento dei prossimi obiettivi. A tal proposito nel mese di gennaio trasmetteremo al Parlamento, come previsto dalla normativa, la relazione semestrale sull’attuazione del PNRR”.
