Third day of the G7 Summit

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, held a press conference this afternoon, bringing the Summit of the G7 Heads of State and Government in Italy’s Apulia Region to a close. 

Day three of the Summit was dedicated to bilateral meetings. President Meloni met with: the President of the African Development Bank Group, Akinwumi A. Adesina; the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau; the President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune; the President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva; and, the President of the World Bank Group, Ajay Banga.

On Thursday 13 June, after the welcome ceremony and family photo, the working sessions ‘Africa, Climate Change and Development’, ‘Middle East’ and ‘Ukraine’ were held. The working session on Ukraine was also attended by President Zelensky. A side event on the G7 Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGII) was held later in the afternoon. In the evening, the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, received the G7 Leaders at the Swabian Castle of Brindisi for an official dinner.

On Friday 14 June, the working sessions ‘Migration’ and ‘Indo-Pacific and Economic Security’ were held, after which President Meloni welcomed His Holiness Pope Francis, the Heads of State and Government of the Outreach countries and representatives of the International Organisations invited to participate in the working session ‘Artificial Intelligence, Energy, Africa-Mediterranean’. In the margins of the second day’s working sessions, President Meloni had bilateral meetings with President of the United States of America Joe Biden, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida.
At the end of the working sessions, the G7 Leaders adopted the Apulia G7 Leaders’ Communiqué.
