Foibe massacres: President Meloni signs decree to establish Remembrance Day committee

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, has signed a Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers (‘DPCM’) establishing a committee to coordinate the Day of Remembrance for the victims of the Foibe massacres and the post-World War II exodus of the people of Istria, Rijeka and Dalmatia. The committee will ensure efficient and coordinated planning of the initiatives and ceremonies proposed by authorities to mark the Day of Remembrance, which was established by Law no. 92 of 30 March 2004.

Palazzo Chigi, the seat of Government, will be lit up with the colours of the Italian tricolour from 6pm on Friday 10 until dawn on Saturday 11 February, with the words “I Remember” projected onto the centre of its façade.
