The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a bilateral meeting with the President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, today, on the eve of the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro.
President Meloni offered her congratulations for the work carried out by the Brazilian Presidency, and expressed appreciation for the synergy and continuity guaranteed by the Italian Presidency of the G7 and the Brazilian Presidency of the G20, underpinned by the shared priority issues addressed by both, starting with development, energy transition and food security.
At bilateral level, the common will was expressed to continue working to strengthen the partnership between Rome and Brasilia, by identifying the priority areas to focus on, starting with economic and trade relations, and also by collaborating with the large and long-standing Italian community in Brazil. In this regard, significant opportunities in the energy and infrastructure development sectors were highlighted.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed the possibility of finalising a new Action Plan for the Italy-Brazil Strategic Partnership for the five-year period 2025-2030.
