G7 Summit: President Meloni meets with the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a meeting today with the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau. Canada will assume the G7 Presidency in 2025. 

The two Leaders focused on the prospects for strengthening bilateral relations. In this regard, they adopted the Italy-Canada Roadmap for Enhanced Cooperation, as agreed during their previous meeting in Toronto in March.

This action plan reflects their commitment to work together in addressing global challenges by fostering sustainable prosperity, international stability and a rules-based international order. Areas of enhanced bilateral cooperation include: energy security and transition; climate change; trade and investment; fostering inclusive and sustainable economic growth; migration; security and defence; and research and innovation, with a focus on Artificial Intelligence and quantum technology.
