National plan to prevent misuse of fentanyl and other synthetic opioids

A press conference was held today to present the national plan to prevent misuse of fentanyl and other synthetic opioids, with Undersecretary of State to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers Alfredo Mantovano, Minister of Health Orazio Schillaci, Minister of Education and Merit Giuseppe Valditara, and Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi. 

The President of the Italian Forensic Toxicologists Group, Sabina Strano Rossi, also spoke at the press conference.

The plan in question has been drawn up by the Department for Drug Policies with the support of several Ministries, departments, organisational units and agencies. Its aim is to define preventive work to intercept and stop fentanyl and fentanyl analogues being illegally accessed and distributed in Italy or misused for non-medical purposes, as well as how to manage a hypothetical emergency.
