NRRP: Government finds solution to allow full amount of EUR 35 billion to be received in 2023 for 3rd and 4th instalments
20 July 2023
Following in-depth discussions with the European Commission, during today’s steering committee meeting for the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), the Italian Government presented an amendment request regarding the student accommodation reform, for the purpose of: including a new milestone for the fourth instalment; clarifying the conditions and objectives for the measure in question; correcting some material errors.
In agreement with the Commission, the proposed amendments will not have any impact on the overall amount of the payments Italy will receive in 2023 through the third and fourth instalments (for a total of EUR 35 billion). The third instalment will involve 54 objectives for EUR 18.5 billion and the fourth 28 objectives for EUR 16.5 billion. The total amount of EUR 35 billion provided for by the NRRP for 2023 will be received in full.
Following today’s decision by the steering committee, the Government will formally submit the proposal to amend the fourth instalment to the European Commission. The proposal will be examined by the Commission and then by the Council of the European Union, together with the other ten amendment proposals for the fourth instalment that have already been analysed by the steering committee and were submitted to the European Commission on 11 July.
