President Meloni and Minister Giorgetti meet with ESM Managing Director and Secretary General

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, and the Minister of Economy and Finance, Giancarlo Giorgetti, met today with the Managing Director of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), Pierre Gramegna, and the ESM Secretary General, Nicola Giammarioli.
During the meeting, as mentioned by the President of the Council of Ministers during her end-of-year press conference, President Meloni reiterated her position and pointed out the anomaly whereby an economic-financial instrument with substantial resources has not been used by adhering States for a long time, despite the difficult economic situation they find themselves in. According to many, and given the various critical issues that remain, this does not seem likely to change following the reform of the ESM.
In closing, the President of the Council of Ministers expressed her hope with Managing Director Gramegna, at his first formal meeting with a Head of Government of a Member State, that possible corrective measures would be examined, together with the other ESM Member States, aimed at making the European Stability Mechanism effectively able to respond to the needs of the various economies.
