President Meloni attends meeting with the President of the Republic of Moldova in Budapest

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, participated in a meeting earlier today with the President of the Republic of Moldova, together with the leaders of France, Poland, Romania and the United Kingdom, as well as the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission. The meeting was held in the margins of the European Political Community Summit in Budapest.

President Meloni congratulated President Maia Sandu on her re-election for a second term and reaffirmed Italy’s strong support for Moldova, its EU accession process and the path of democracy, freedom and rule of law the Moldovan people have embarked upon, despite interference attempts.

Italy has demonstrated this support by signing an agreement regarding social security to the benefit of the Moldovan community in the nation, and will continue to offer its assistance, with a particular focus on the energy sector and the strengthening of Moldovan institutions in order to address challenges linked to security and hybrid threats.
