President Meloni’s telephone conversations with the President of Algeria and the President of Egypt

Ahead of the Italy-Africa Summit being held in Rome on Monday, the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, spoke over the telephone this afternoon with the President of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and with the President of Egypt, Abdelfattah al-Sisi. The two conversations provided an opportunity to exchange ideas on revitalising Italy’s relations with the African continent and on the joint development of the ‘Mattei Plan’. The telephone calls also allowed for in-depth discussions with both African leaders on a number of bilateral issues as well as for an exchange on the latest developments in the crises in the Middle East region.
Both leaders expressed their hope that they would soon have an opportunity to meet with President Meloni.
