Statement by President Meloni following NRRP Steering Committee meeting

“Today, the Government has achieved another extremely important goal. The steering committee for the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) has validated achievement of the 52 milestones and targets needed for Italy to be able to submit its request to the European Commission for the fifth instalment, worth EUR 10.5 billion, by 31 December 2023. This result is in addition to the leading position Italy has already earned by being the first nation in Europe to submit the fourth NRRP payment request. In the coming days, this will enable us to receive EUR 16.5 billion relating to the fourth instalment, pushing up the total amount already received to approximately EUR 102 billion, over half of our entire National Recovery and Resilience Plan. My thanks go to Minister Fitto as well as to all Ministers and central government and local administrations that have contributed to this great achievement, further demonstrating the extraordinary work that has been carried out over these months”.
