I would like to express my heartfelt felicitations on the release of our three compatriots who were kidnapped in Mali in 2022: Rocco Langone, his wife Maria Donata Caivano and their son Giovanni. I also wish to thank AISE for its extraordinary work which, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made it possible to achieve this difficult result.

Rocco Langone, his wife Maria Donata Caivano and their son Giovanni Langone, the three Italian citizens who were kidnapped from their home on the outskirts of the city of Koutiala, southeast of Bamako, the capital of Mali, on 19 May 2022, were freed last night. This area is particularly infiltrated by jihadist militia; the kidnapping was carried out by a jihadist faction linked to JNIM, the Group to Support Islam and Muslims, associated with al-Qa'ida, which is active in large parts of West Africa.

La Conferenza organizzata ieri a Parigi dal Presidente Macron ha costituito l'occasione per riaffermare, con la partecipazione del Vice Ministro Cirielli, il pieno impegno dell'Italia a sostegno dell’Ucraina nella lotta a difesa della propria sovranità e integrità territoriale. Fin dall'aggressione russa di due anni fa vi è stata piena coesione di tutti gli Alleati nel supporto da offrire a Kiev. Questo supporto non contempla la presenza sul territorio ucraino di truppe di Stati europei o NATO.

The Government held two separate meetings with representatives of trade union organisations and employers’ associations at Palazzo Chigi today on the issue of workplace health and safety. On behalf of the Government, the meeting was attended by Minister of Labour and Social Policies Marina Calderone and Undersecretary of State to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers Alfredo Mantovano.

Voglio esprimere le mie più sentite felicitazioni per la liberazione dei nostri tre connazionali sequestrati nel 2022 in Mali: Rocco Langone, la moglie Maria Donata Caivano e il figlio Giovanni. E ringraziare per lo straordinario lavoro l’AISE che, di concerto con il Ministero degli Esteri, ha consentito questo non facile risultato.

Questa notte sono stati liberati tre cittadini italiani, Rocco Langone, la moglie Maria Donata Caivano e il figlio Giovanni Langone, che erano stati sequestrati il 19 maggio 2022 nella loro abitazione alla periferia della città di Koutiala, a sud est della capitale del Mali, Bamako, dove vivevano da diversi anni. È un’area particolarmente permeata dalla presenza di miliziani jihadisti; il rapimento era avvenuto da parte di una fazione jihadista riconducibile al JNIM, Gruppo di supporto per l'Islam e i musulmani, allineata con al-Qa'ida, attiva in larga parte dell'Africa Occidentale.
