NRRP: European Commission has today paid the fourth instalment, worth EUR 16.5 billion, to Italy

Today’s payment is the result of Italy achieving all 28 milestones and targets linked to the fourth instalment, as verified by the European Union. These milestones and targets regard measures needed to continue the implementation of justice and public administration reforms, as well as important reforms in the fields of social inclusion and public procurement. The main investments are related to digitalisation, with particular regard to the transition of local public administrations’ data to the cloud, development of the space industry, green hydrogen, transport, research, education and social policies.

President Meloni’s condolences following the shooting in Prague

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, has sent a message to the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, expressing deepest condolences to the families of the victims of the shooting in Prague and sympathy for those injured and the entire population of the Czech Republic. President Meloni reiterates her strongest condemnation of all forms of violence, fanaticism and terrorism, stressing that Europe has a duty to react and strengthen all tools that can help ensure maximum security for citizens.

Statement by Palazzo Chigi on new Stability and Growth Pact

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, considers it important that the 27 EU Member States have found a common-sense compromise for political agreement on the new Stability and Growth Pact. Despite Member States’ very different starting positions and needs, the new Pact is an improvement on past conditions for Italy. Less strict and more realistic rules than the ones currently in force, avoiding the risk of automatically returning to the previous parameters, which would not have been sustainable for many Member States.

NRRP Steering Committee meeting to verify implementation of milestones and targets for fifth instalment

The steering committee for the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) met at Palazzo Chigi today. The purpose of the meeting, called and chaired by Minister for European Affairs, Southern Italy, Cohesion Policy and the NRRP Raffaele Fitto and attended by the Ministers and Undersecretaries involved, was to verify achievement of the 52 milestones and targets linked to the fifth instalment of Italy’s new plan, which was approved by the European Council on 8 December.
