Inflation: first pact to protect citizens’ purchasing power signed at Palazzo Chigi
An ‘Anti-Inflation Quarter’ pact was signed at Palazzo Chigi today by President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni, Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso, Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry Francesco Lollobrigida, and by representatives of the world of production, processing and distribution. 32 associations forming part of Italy’s economic system will be supporting the Government to protect the purchasing power of citizens and households.

President Meloni meets with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania
The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a long and cordial meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania, Edi Rama, at Palazzo Chigi today. The two leaders discussed the main bilateral issues, noting the excellent relations between Rome and Tirana in the political, economic, trade, cultural and social spheres.

Statement by the Palazzo Chigi Press Office
The news reported by the ‘La Repubblica’ newspaper, in relation to which an interview with the ‘Garante per l’infanzia’ [child protection authority] has also been published, according to which the new decree to be examined during today’s Council of Ministers meeting allegedly repeals the presumption of minor age in the event of doubt, is totally unfounded. In fact, in such cases, the presumption of minor age – art. 19-bis, paragraph 8, of legislative decree no. 142 of 2015 – remains unchanged: the assessment procedure is merely sped up on an exceptional basis should there be particularly large flows, and this is conducted under the supervision of the competent judicial authority. There is therefore no provision to reverse the burden of proof regarding children’s age ...

The Government met with trade union organisations at Palazzo Chigi today, to discuss the former Ilva steel plant in Taranto. The meeting was attended by Undersecretary of State to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers Alfredo Mantovano, Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso, Minister of Labour and Social Policies Marina Calderone, Minister for European Affairs, Southern Italy, Cohesion Policy and the NRRP Raffaele Fitto, and the national leaders of trade union organisations FIM - CISL, FIOM – CGIL, UILM - UIL, UGL and USB.

Meetings with organisations representing economic and social partners were held at Palazzo Chigi today, divided into five sector-specific sessions: the first meeting was with Confindustria, Ance, Confedilizia, Abi and Ania; the second with Federterziario, Confetra, Confservizi, Confprofessioni and Assoprofessioni; the third with Confapi, Confimi, Confcommercio, Confesercenti, Federdistribuzione and Conflavoro; the fourth with Alleanza Cooperative, UNicoop, Confartigianato, Cna, Casartigiani, UE.Coop, Forum Nazionale del Terzo Settore, Consiglio Nazionale Giovani; and the fifth and final meeting of the day was with CGIL, CISL, UIL e UGL, CONFSAL, CISAL and USB.

President Meloni meets with President Macron
The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a long and cordial meeting with the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, at Palazzo Chigi this afternoon. The two leaders discussed the main international issues, focusing particularly on management of the migration phenomenon and Europe’s economic priorities ahead of this Friday’s ‘Med 9’ Summit in Malta and the informal European Council meeting in Granada next week.
