Statement by Palazzo Chigi
The attacks against our diplomatic representations in Athens, Barcelona and Berlin, and likewise the one in Turin, the violence on the streets of Rome and Trento, the bullets addressed to the director of the ‘Tirreno’ newspaper and to chief prosecutor Francesco Saluzzo, the Molotov cocktail thrown at a police station: such actions will not intimidate the institutions, even less so if the aim is a relaxation of the toughest prison regime for perpetrators of terrorist acts. The State does not compromise with those who make treats.

President Meloni in Libya
President Meloni and Ministers Tajani and Piantedosi travelled to Tripoli, Libya, today, for an Italian Government mission in the North African country. During the visit, President Meloni met with the Prime Minister of the Libyan Government of National Unity, Abdel Hamid al-Dabaiba, with whom she issued statements to the press. President Meloni later met with the President of the Presidential Council of the State of Libya, Mohammed Yunis Ahmed Al-Menfi.

“I have expressed mine and the Italian Government’s solidarity with the First Counsellor at the Italian Embassy in Berlin, Luigi Estero, following the attack that caused his car to catch fire in the German capital. This episode is in addition to the acts of vandalism that have targeted our Consulate General in Barcelona. President Meloni expresses solidarity following the attacks in Germany and Spain
Brutal acts of blind violence have once again hit Europe. I wish to express mine and the Italian Government’s sympathy and solidarity with Chancellor Olaf Scholz and President of the Government Pedro Sánchez following the attacks that have caused death and suffering for defenceless citizens in Germany and Spain. We must keep our guard up against people and movements that want to destroy our societies and attack us for who we are.
