Guido Castelli appointed Commissioner for post-earthquake reconstruction in central Italy
The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, has signed a Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers appointing Senator Guido Castelli as the Commissioner for post-earthquake reconstruction in central Italy. The Government wishes Senator Castelli all the best with this challenging task, for which his experience as an administrator and his knowledge of the area will be invaluable. The Government thanks the outgoing Commissioner, Hon. Giovanni Legnini, who will continue as commissioner for Ischia, for his work to date.

Statement by Palazzo Chigi on President Mattarella’s end-of-year message
The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, expressed her gratitude to the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, during a telephone call after his end-of-year message, thanking him for the encouragement to govern with the responsibility demanded by these difficult times, following the political elections that led to a woman being Head of Government for the first time. Expressing the common, strong concern for the conflict in Ukraine, President Meloni shared the Head of State’s words on the serious violations of freedom taking place in various areas of the world and on the need for institutional harmony in the interests of young people, women and those who work and look to the future with confidence. She then wished President Mattarella all the best for the continuation of his high office.

Benedict XVI was a giant of faith and of reason. A man who loved the Lord and devoted his life to the service of the universal Church. He spoke, and will continue to speak, to the hearts and minds of people with the spiritual, cultural and intellectual depth of his Magisterium. A Christian, a shepherd, a theologian: one of history’s greats, whom history will not forget. Phone call between President Meloni and President Zelensky of Ukraine
The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a telephone conversation today with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. The cordial conversation followed the telephone call between President Meloni and President Zelensky on 28 October. President Meloni renewed the Italian Government’s full support for Kyiv in political, military, economic and humanitarian terms and with regard to restoring energy infrastructure and the future reconstruction of Ukraine. President Meloni reiterated Italy’s utmost commitment to all actions to help achieve a just peace for the Ukrainian nation. The President of the Council of Ministers also confirmed her intention to travel to Kyiv and invited President Zelensky to visit Rome.

The Presidency of the Council of Ministers expresses satisfaction that, on this Christmas Eve, the businessman Andrea Costantino has returned to Italy and is once again able to embrace his loved ones.
