President Meloni meets with Business7 representatives

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, met today with representatives of the Business7 group, the forum for dialogue between the G7 and the private business sector, coordinated this year by Confindustria. During the meeting, President Meloni outlined the priorities of the Apulia Summit to be held on 13-15 June, focusing in particular on the Italian G7 Presidency’s commitment to foster investment, economic relations and free and fair trade within a framework of internationally agreed rules.

Statement by President Meloni on International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia

Safeguarding and defending the dignity of all people is enshrined in our Constitution. It is a priority for all institutions, at all levels, to combat all forms of discrimination, violence and intolerance and to invest in prevention and victim support. It is also our duty to keep the international community focused on the persecution and abuse still being perpetrated in many nations around the world on the basis of sexual orientation, as the President of the Republic also recalled today. Such unacceptable discrimination and violence undermines people’s dignity and must always be kept under the spotlight. This is another issue on which the Government is, and always will be, at the forefront.

Meeting with the President of the Republic of Latvia

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, received the President of the Republic of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs, at Palazzo Chigi today. Their meeting focused on the excellent bilateral cooperation between Italy and Latvia, particularly in the fields of defence and security. The two leaders also discussed the top priorities on the European and international agenda, including migration issues. They also shared their commitment to continue strengthening a comprehensive approach to Euro-Atlantic security.
