President Meloni meets with the Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, received the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, at Palazzo Chigi today. The meeting focused on the strengthening of the bilateral relationship, particularly with regard to migration management, facilitating regular flows and countering the criminal activities of traffickers.

Statement by Palazzo Chigi on ITA Rome-Tripoli direct flight

An ITA direct flight between Rome and Tripoli reopened this route over Libyan skies today, after a ten-year suspension. The flight, which also had Prime Minister Dabaiba on board, was a prelude to the new commercial route that will be opened this autumn. Following the International Conference on Development and Migration, this is another tangible sign of the direction the Italian Government wants relations with Libya and with States in the wider Mediterranean to move in.

International Conference on Development and Migration in Rome. Commitments and shared solutions for the Mediterranean and Africa

At the initiative of the Italian Government, the leaders of almost all states on the southern shore of the wider Mediterranean, in the Middle East and the Gulf, as well as EU Member States of first arrival and a number of partners from the Sahel and the Horn of Africa, together with the heads of European institutions and international financial institutions, met at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Rome today, to address emergencies and launch a shared development strategy. Following the working sessions, President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni held a press conference.

Statement by Palazzo Chigi on Odesa attacks

We are deeply hurt by the attacks in Odesa, the deaths of innocent people, the destruction of the Transfiguration Cathedral. Russian aggressors are demolishing granaries, depriving millions of starving people of food. They are devastating our European civilisation and its sacred symbols. NRRP: Government finds solution to allow full amount of EUR 35 billion to be received in 2023 for 3rd and 4th instalments

Following in-depth discussions with the European Commission, during today’s steering committee meeting for the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), the Italian Government presented an amendment request regarding the student accommodation reform, for the purpose of: including a new milestone for the fourth instalment; clarifying the conditions and objectives for the measure in question; correcting some material errors.

President Meloni in Palermo on anniversary of Via D'Amelio bombing

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, attended today’s wreath-laying ceremony at the commemorative plaque in memory of Judges Falcone and Borsellino and the agents who also lost their lives in the two bombings, after which she visited the Santa Maria di Gesù cemetery and the Church of San Domenico, where the judges are buried. President Meloni went on to chair a Public Order and Security Committee meeting at the Prefecture before addressing journalists at a doorstep.
