Council of Ministers meeting no. 24

9 March 2023

Council of Ministers meeting no. 24 was held at the town hall of Cutro, in the Calabria region, this afternoon. Following the meeting, President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni, together with Vice-President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini, Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi, Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio, Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry Francesco Lollobrigida and Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers Alfredo Mantovano, held a press conference to illustrate the decree law regarding legal entries of foreign workers and the prevention of and fight against irregular immigration. In the coming hours, President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni will invite the relatives of the victims of the tragedy in Cutro to Palazzo Chigi.

President Meloni receives two young Nigerian Christian women, victims of persecution

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni today received representatives from the 'Aiuto alla Chiesa che Soffre’ [‘ACS’; ‘Aid to the Church in Need’] Foundation at Palazzo Chigi, together with two young Nigerian Christian women who have been victims of persecution: Maria Joseph and Janada Markus, 19 and 22 years old respectively, both of whom fled the terrorists of Boko Haram. The meeting was also attended by Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers Alfredo Mantovano and by Sandra Sarti and Alessandro Monteduro, the President and the Director of the 'Aiuto alla Chiesa che Soffre’ Pontifical Foundation.

President Meloni’s condolence message following the plane crash in Guidonia

“The news of the deaths of the two Air Force pilots in the plane crash that happened in Guidonia, near Rome, fills us with sadness. On behalf of the Government, I express my deepest condolences and sympathy to their families, to their colleagues of the 60th Wing and to the entire Air Force. NRRP steering committee meeting

7 March 2023

Following the steering committee meeting on 6 February, in the presence of President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni, with Italy’s main energy and electricity sector operators, important discussions were held today with regional, provincial and municipal representatives to define Italy’s REPowerEU chapter, which must be submitted to the European Commission by 30 April. REPowerEU is the EU’s plan to cope with the global energy market difficulties caused by the war in Ukraine. Today’s meeting was attended by Minister for European Affairs, Southern Italy, Cohesion Policy and the NRRP Raffaele Fitto and Minister for Regional Affairs and Autonomies Roberto Calderoli.

President Meloni attends ceremony in ‘Women’s Hall’ at Chamber of Deputies

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, attended a ceremony in the ‘Sala delle Donne’ [‘Women’s Hall’] at the Chamber of Deputies this morning. The hall is dedicated to the first women to take their place in the institutions of the Italian Republic. On the eve of International Women’s Rights Day, a picture of President Meloni, the first woman in Italy to hold the position of President of the Council of Ministers, was added to the gallery in the hall.
